Theatre Lovett's "The Girl Who Forgot to Sing Badly"
A recording will remain available to ticket holders for seven days following the live event. “...Lovett fills this hour with bravura touches… Like the toy in the cereal box, he’s this package’s real prize.”? —The New York Times? Peggy O'Hegarty and her parents are packers. They squeeze fruit into tins, foxes into boxes, even bikes into brown paper bags, while Peggy sings with the voice of an angel—a grossly unfortunate angel, who can't sing at all. From Dublin, Ireland, ingenious performer Louis Lovett leads the audience on an untamed adventure. Complete with a jack-in-the-box set, this solo theatre show details Peggy's trek across snowy lands and wild seas. As Peggy tries to save the day, the audience learns about love, loss, the reassurance of goats, and the courage to sing gloriously on- or off-key. This multi-camera stream from a performance in Australia is recommended for the entire family, especially children in second through sixth grades. Star Lovett answers questions live after the performance. Theatre Lovett produces theatre for all ages—theatre that can amuse and involve. Founded in 2007 by Joint Artistic Directors Muireann Ahern and Louis Lovett, the company takes risks, is playfully dangerous, and loves music, physical theatre, clowning, absurd comedy, and poignant tragedy. Theatre Lovett believes that children and young audiences respond to and recognize the best when it is shared with them, without stereotyping or belittling an audience's experience and innocence.
